TΤhe objective of the MORCIC project is the order-of-magnitude reduction of electromagnetic models for large integrated circuits, with the aim of their efficient handling by simulation and Electronic Design Automation (EDA) tools. Electromagnetic modeling is critical in integrated circuits targeting 5G mobile phones and Gbps networks, cloud computing, high-performance computing for artificial intelligence applications, next-generation vehicles, the Internet of Things, as well as to meet future needs arising from the widespread adoption of three-dimensional (3D) integrated circuits. During the project, innovative mathematical and computational methods will be developed to reduce the order, by at least 99%, of electromagnetic models with an initial order of billions of elements or more, while maintaining an accuracy within 1% of the original model, which will give the ability to perform high-precision simulations to predict the behavior of integrated circuits under realistic operating conditions. The implementation and commercial exploitation of the results of the project will be carried out by the multinational company ANSYS (www.ansys.com), which is the world leader in the field of scientific simulation software.

Project Duration: Dec. 2021 – Nov. 2023

Project Funding: The project is funded by the European Regional Development Fund of the European Union and Greek national funds through the Operational Program “Competitiveness, Entrepreneurship and Innovation”, under the call “Research – Create – Innovate” (project code: T2EDK-00609)
